St. Mary’s volleyball gets back in Westview tournament
The week was going rough for the Blues after dropping a five-set match to Three Rivers League foe Lake Oswego, which was followed up by a three-set loss to Oregon City.
However, SMA turned it around on Saturday, Sept. 20 by going 4-0 at a tournament hosted by Westview. The Blues took down Putnam, Redmond, Lebanon and Glencoe all in two sets to sweep the weekend.
SMA now sits 9-3 overall this season, 2-2 in TRL play and are ranked No. 10 in 6A in the OSAA rankings as of this writing. The Blues dive back into TRL play at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23 at home against West Linn.
Central Catholic volleyball trucking along in the MHC
Going against a program that’s been a state-title contender the past three seasons is never easy, and the Rams got their first taste of the Hawks on Tuesday, Sept. 16.
Nelson hosted Central Catholic and picked up the sweep 25-21, 26-24, 25-20, the Rams’ first loss in Mt. Hood Conference play.
CC came right back later in the week though to take down Gresham 3-1 and stay in the hunt for the MHC title. The Rams are now 7-4 overall this season, 4-1 in the MHC and are ranked No. 7 in 6A by the OSAA rankings.
Up next is a matchup at home against Clackamas set for 6:30 p.m. Sept. 23.
Lincoln girls soccer on a hot streak
The Cardinals opened the season in the toughest way imaginable: Taking on defending champion Jesuit. Lincoln lost that one 7-2.
Since that loss on Sept. 2, the Cardinals have won five consecutive matches and scored a total of 13 goals in that time while allowing just three. The five wins have come against good competition too in Sunset, West Linn, Lake Oswego, Sherwood and Central Catholic.
The impressive streak has pushed the 5-1 Cardinals to No. 2 in the OSAA rankings despite that loss to Jesuit. And they’ll have two more nonleague matches to try and keep raising the bar before PIL play.
Up next is a 7 p.m. Sept. 23 matchup across the Columbia River against Camas (WA).
David Douglas girls soccer unbeaten and unblemished
The Scots won their first two playoff matches in program history last season, and so far in 2025 they look hungry for more.
DD is 4-0 to start the year and haven’t allowed a goal while scoring 11 of its own. The four wins have against Churchill, Aloha, La Salle Prep and Glencoe.
The effort has put the Scots at No. 9 in the 6A OSAA rankings with three more nonleague matches to go before Mt. Hood Conference play.
Up next is a 6:30 p.m. kickoff Sept. 23 at home against 5A Silverton.
Grant boys soccer coming on strong
It was a rough start for the Generals in 2025, falling to West Linn to open the season 1-0 then losing on the road to McNary 3-2.
Since then, Grant has rattled off four consecutive wins over Reynolds, McKay, Aloha and Sherwood to improve to 4-2.
The tough nonleague slate wraps up this week with a 5 p.m. kickoff Sept. 22 against Lake Oswego inside Providence Park, then a 7 p.m. Sept. 25 matchup on the road at Jesuit.
