One of the busiest weeks in the prep calendar has come to a close and these fingers are pretty much out of words for you this Sunday.

State track and field went down in Eugene and I have a huge thank you to give to Elias Esquivel for going down there to help provide coverage of all the Portland athletes competing from every classification.

Down below you'll find all the stories Elias wrote on some of the highlights from the three-day event. Plus you'll find links to the OSAA stories done by me on Portland Adventist and Central Catholic winning the inaugural boys volleyball state crowns.

Prep season is officially over for all Portland schools, and there will be an even bigger thank you to follow. For now, enjoy the coverage and we'll talk soon.

The No. 6 Grant baseball team was ahead of No. 3 West Linn 2-0 with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning in their quarterfinals matchup Friday, May 29.

However, the Lions were able to rally with a fielder's choice to score one run, and then a walk-off two-RBI double broke the Generals' hearts.

Senior Jinki Tomita finished his high school career with another gem, going 6.1 innings with two runs allowed on five hits with four strikeouts and five walks. He reached the pitch limit and had to come out of the game.

Grant scored first in the second inning when senior Oscar Fulford laid down a sacrifice bunt that allowed junior Jake Fisher to score from third.

The second run came in the fifth when Phillip Elliston added an exclamation point to the remarkable sophomore season he's had with an RI double to score senior Martin Elardo.

That 2-0 lead held until the final two outs, ending the PIL champion's season just short of the semifinals.
