Thursday Night Lights: Wells stays unbeaten, Central Catholic turns in a win streak
Week six shifted Friday night lights to Thursday for most of the 12 area football teams with six games going down across the city.
David Douglas got into the win column at home while the PIL games were mostly blowouts to help set up an exciting final three weeks of the season. Central Catholic also picked up another win to start a streak.

David Douglas 49, Centennial 6
David Douglas picked up its first win of 2026 by dismantling Centennial at home 49-6.

Lincoln 69, McDaniel 20
Lincoln continues to roll in PIL play with another big win, this one coming at home over McDaniel 69-20.
Antayus Wilkins rolled through another opponent, racking up somewhere close to 200 yards on the ground along with three rushing TDs. Leonardo Correani scored on the ground, as did Kai Lindsey and Owen O’Neill.
Auden Rose connected with Reed Eldridge, Devin Prendergast and Alex Papavasilliou for TD passes.
Prendergast also had another sack on defense and Eldridge had an interception. The biggest defensive play though was a Bodhi Knight pick-six.
For McDaniel, Marion Walker had a strong night as the sophomore wideout caught all three TDs for the Mountain Lions.
Lincoln now sits at 5-1 overall and 5-0 in the PIL while McDaniel drops to 1-5 overall and in league.

Grant 54, Roosevelt 0
Another week, another shutout for Grant as it blanked Roosevelt 54-0 and gave the Generals their fourth shutout of the season.
Doing plenty of the heavy lifting on defense was Conor Segel who came up with four sacks. D-lineman Toka'one Fakapulia had an interception as well.
On offense, it was the JaCory Jackson show once again as he found the end zone four times to guide the offense.
Grant improves to 5-1 overall and 4-1 in the PIL while Roosevelt drops to 3-3 overall and 2-3 in league.

Ida B. Wells 50, Franklin 20
Ida B. Wells ran through another opponent Friday, taking down Franklin 50-20 on the road to stay unbeaten.
Yasin Birya was the offensive force on this night, scoring from 8, 45 and 86 yards out to help the Guardians go up 44-6 at halftime. Lucious Coon scored twice in the first as well and Kannon Walter did too.
In the second half, Toby Carrick provided the final score for Wells, meanwhile Finnegan McTaggart picked up his second TD of the night and Oliver Vanklompenberg was the final TD for the Lightning.
Wells is rolling at 6-0 overall and 5-0 in the PIL while the setback for the Lightning puts them at 4-2 overall and 3-2 in league.

Cleveland 42, Benson 0
Cleveland got back into the win column with a dominant 42-0 win at the Marshall Campus over the field’s other normal occupant in Benson.
Apollo Johnson had a couple electric plays, scoring on a kickoff return and receiving one TD as well. QB Jude Buck had two passing TDs, one to Johnson and one to Oliver Franklin. Alex Gonzalez-Maltos scored twice on the ground.
On defense, Trek Gibler came up with an interception and Henry Meade joined in on the fun with a pick of his own.
The win gets Cleveland back to .500 at 3-3 overall and in the PIL. Benson falls to 0-6 in both.

Central Catholic 42, Barlow 20
Make it two in a row for Central Catholic as the Rams went out east and took out Barlow 42-20.
QB Kody Grant tossed two touchdowns, one to Jamear Shambry and the other to Jeneral Lewis. Armani Tonga got in on the fun on the ground with two rushing TDs while Summit Grant and Kody Grant each ran one in as well.
The Rams are now 2-4 overall on the year and 2-0 in Mt. Hood Conference play, setting up a big-time showdown with Nelson next week to likely decide the league title.
