Friday Night Lights: Cleveland stuns at Roosevelt, Grant win sets up showdown with Wells
We couldn’t make it out to a game this week, but we still have the weekly Friday night roundup in store for you.
We got word from all seven games played, including a huge win for Cleveland, a nail-bitter between Central Catholic and Nelson, and some important wins for Grant and Lincoln.
It’s all in the weekly roundup down below!
Cleveland 32, Roosevelt 28
For the first time since 2017, Cleveland has come out of a matchup with Roosevelt victorious after going on the road to take out the Roughriders 32-28.
The Warriors raced out to a 22-8 lead and then lead 28-16 after Felix Amistadi had a blocked punt returned for a TD.
Amistadi also had a rushing TD in the game, alongside Henry Meade with a score on the ground. Jude Buck hit Apollo Johnson for a passing score, the latter of which also had an interception on defense. Cole Christiansen chipped in a 30-yard field goal.
The win moves Cleveland back above .500 at 4-3 overall and in the PIL, meanwhile Roosevelt drops to 3-4 overall and 2-4 in league.

Lincoln 47, Franklin 0
Lincoln went all out on the ground as it blitzed Franklin at home in the Cardinals 47-0 victory.
All of the Cardinals touchdowns came from rushes, three of them from Greyson Murff. Antayus Wilkins found the end zone of course, two times, then it was Auden Rose and Tyler Moore each touching paydirt once.
On defense, Lincoln picked up two fumbles, one forced and recovered by Leonardo Correani.
Lincoln remains unbeaten in league play at 6-0 and is 6-1 overall while Franklin falls to 4-3 overall and 3-3 in the PIL.

Grant 35, Jefferson 14
For a third consecutive week, JaCory Jackson ran wild for Grant as the Generals took out rival Jefferson 35-14.
Jackson, filling in at running back and scoring four touchdowns apiece the last two games, scored four more again against the Democrats to pace the Grant offense.
The win keeps Grant in the hunt for the PIL crown at 5-1 in league and 6-1 overall. Jefferson drops to 1-6 overall and 1-5 in the PIL.
Up next: Oct. 23: Wells at Grant, 7 p.m. and Jefferson at McDaniel, 7 p.m.
Nelson 20, Central Catholic 19
The de facto Mt. Hood Conference title game came down to an extra point as Central Catholic fell to Nelson for a second consecutive season at Hillsboro Stadium.
Trailing 20-13, Rams QB Kody Grant hit Kaden Bozovich in the far corner of the end zone to make it a 20-19 Nelson lead with 3:14 to go. However, some pressure on the PAT forced the kick wide left.
On the ensuing possession, the Hawks were able to run out the clock and hang on for the one-point win.
The Rams got on the board first on a wild play. CC hit Nelson QB Braylon Gaines as he threw the ball and it popped straight into the air, hit off a lineman’s helmet and into the hands of Bennett Wissel who ran it in from 35 yards out.
Nelson came right back with a score on the next possession, but the extra point was blocked to make it 7-6 Rams at halftime.
Armani Tonga ran in a short score with seven minutes left in the third to go up 13-6, and the score stayed there after a missed PAT.
Nelson tied it up at 13 before the end of the third, then scored with 11:08 left in the game to go up 20-13.
Central Catholic saw its two-game win streak snapped and dropped to 2-5 overall, 2-1 in the MHC.
Up next: Oct. 23: Central Catholic at Reynolds, 7 p.m. (Mt. Hood Community College)
Sandy 56, David Douglas 20

The Scots fall to 1-6 overall and 1-2 in 5A Special District 1.

Hood River Valley 54, Parkrose 0
Up next: Oct. 23: Parkrose at Putnam, 7 p.m.
Ida B. Wells 1, Benson 0 (forfeit)

The automatic win pushes Wells to 7-0 overall and 6-0 in the PIL ahead of two huge matchups to close the season at Grant next week and then closing the season at home against Lincoln.
